I have been able to use the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 for almost a year now and to say that I have been pleased with the experience has to be an understatement. I wanted to get into videography for car content for a long time and the content that I saw online never reflected to the content I tried to create with either my Cannon 80D (Photography Camera) or simply enough, my iPhone camera.

I found the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 while scrolling social media one day. This tiny, almost toy-sized thing that looked more like a gadget than a serious camera piqued my interest and after watching some online reviews and final products from the camera I decided to get one. For one, there is a confidence that comes from carrying less equipment. Carrying an overstuffed camera bag with all the bells and whistles needed to create good content felt overwhelming. Every quick shoot felt like a full production and for quick— car related content it felt like I was doing way too much. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 fits into even the smallest pocket of my backpack and yet what it delivers is anything but small. The footage always feels clean and crisp and even the colors produced can rival a real videography camera.
It’s like having a full filming “rig” in one hand. I can pull it out, flip the screen, and start shooting footage in 4k in seconds. It gives me the ability to shoot great content effortlessly and it even helps me forget to be a perfectionist. The best shots happen when you’re not thinking about camera settings or angles.

The gimbal smooths out everything, and the automatic follow feature helps with the process with a simple double tap of the subject on the screen. For my car related content, I have a suction cup that allows for me to create the “roller” effect that all car content creators love.
By no means does the DJI Osmo Pocket 3 replace you’re A-Camera. It’s not meant to. You will not be able to shoot feature films with this camera by any means, but for short content creation for social media this camera can carry its weight tenfold. The point of this camera is the ability to have the freedom to be mobile. Being able to move, record, and stay creative without barriers is important in the social media field and this camera can produce great, 4k content that allows for easy clips with tracking abilities.

The Osmo Pocket 3 fits perfecting into the “master of none” philosophy. It’s not trying to specialize, its versatile and adaptable— and always ready. In the age where every piece of tech tries to convince you that it’s the “ultimate” tool, this camera quietly says, “just click record and create.”
At the end of the day, the Osmo Pocket 3 made me really excited to film car content. Not because its perfect, but because of how effortlessly it makes it. I am not the person to post all the car content I create because realistically it’s for myself, but maybe if I get some better traction, I start showing you all what the Pocket 3 has done for me.
